Eventually 101 Things About Me.....

1.I don't really like the Onion (satire). I don't often find it funny. I have been trying to give the videos a chance as of late...so many people are fans.
2.My Doggie is able to say "I love you."
3.I detest superficial people.Be real and enjoy life.
4.Eventually I will have many,many Christmas cacti. Right now, I have three.
5. I am impressed by Jarvis' rendering time in Iron Man. I wish creating things really worked that way...at least if you were creating something for a morally-correct purpose.
6. I want the CW series "Valentine" to come back.There are four episodes up on Hulu...but I know more were shot. At the very least, couldn't what was shot be put up on Hulu?
7. I wish that there were more kindness and compassion in the world. I see so much that is just the opposite.
8. I also want the Internet series "QuarterLife" back. I was glad to see the actor who played Eric on Quarterlife in an episode of Valentine (which, of course, has also been discontinued).
9. I am a big fan of BlogHer and other things that empower a woman. I am not a militant feminist....just a believer in the fact that women can have a beautiful strength. :-) I would like to attend BlogHer in person at some point (instead of just reading about it and attending the virtual version in Second Life).
10. I play a mean/insane game of Munchkin. Funny moment recently....the GM prohibited me from giving Husband "gifts." I don't usually win.....but I add a lot of humor/death to the game.
11. The only person I ever IM is Husband. I don't like being tied to a conversation for hours anymore. Gone are the days when I can talk to people overseas until dawn....because the person is so nice/interesting (and ignores me when I say that I must sleep sometime). I do Twitter at my own pace.....with hundreds of interesting people.
12. I worry a super-lot....about everyone and everything. Yet, I am one of the strongest people that I know (in the long run).
13. I tried putting cottage cheese in my spaghetti. It really didn't taste like much of anything...neither good nor bad.
14. I wish that there were more time in my days. One thing that I would do if I had more time is photography every day.
15. I type over 60 words-per-minute but I don't feel that is fast enough.When I take typing tests, I get nervous & seize up...then I only score about 41 words per minute.
16. I wish that Top Chef were viewable online. It used to be my fave show...but now we don't have cable.
17. I am Christian but I will not force you to be.
18. I collect Chaucer....different versions, critiques, analyis, etc...I appreciate any suggestions for my collection.
19. I put money in a piggy bank.I like to give neice,nephews,friend's children a piggy bank as one of their earliest presents. I send money for the piggy bank as a life-long gift.
20. I have crayons & use them.A pet peeve of mine is that new boxes of crayons are always a little hard to open up.
21. I like George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord"...except when it is annoying.
22. I would like to change a lot of peoples' lives for the better while I am here on earth.
23. I am a big fan of Random Acts of Kindness.
24. My favorite saint is St. Barnabas who was called "The Encourager." I try to encourage others. I have a very hard time encouraging those who are mean to me (& sometimes I don't encourage them).
25. I wish that I had more people encouraging me.
26. I like toerings but they don't get along well with my feet.
27. My favorite nail polish is a shiny purple color called "Gregarious."
28. My favorite scent is Green Tea.
29. I like the book "Love Letters of a Lifetime" whose foreword is written by Dana Reeves. I used to write my husband a lot of love letters but I haven't in a while. I also enjoyed reading a book of Ronald Reagan's love letters to Nancy.
30. I used to read my husband a lot of poetry but I haven't in a while.
31. I usually do at least two floral arrangements a week....one fake and one real/real with some fake.
32. I like marriage retreats, workshops, seminars, books, etc. My favorite lecturer on romance is Gary Chapman who wrote "The Five Love Languages."
33. I should burn candles more often. I try a lot of different candle scents.
34. I never have a full drink (of alcohol).It could interact with my thyroid medicine & put me into a shock which will put me into a coma followed by death....a really good reason not to drink.
35. If I could drink a lot of something, it would probably be Kosher Blackberry Wine or sweet cherry wine.
36. I have never played lacrosse. It looks difficult.
37. I have a weight bench & various other small excercise equipment.
38. I have a newspaper from the day America declared war on Iraq.
39. I would love to learn how to operate a ham radio.
40. I am going to do podcasts sooner or later.
41. I have seen St. Elmo's Fire....the phenomenon (I have seen the movie too, of course).
42. I have lightning on one of my credit cards & a poster of lightning. The reason for this is that my hair often stands almost straight up when it storms close by.I have come within inches of being struck by lightning on a sunny day (with no storm in sight). Just call me Sparky.
43. We have a "Annual Pumpkin of Sorrows Toss." We write everything that upset us that year on a pumpkin & toss it from really high. It makes a loud exploding sound & is a neat photographic experience.
44. I like to eat frog legs.
45. I am very particular about the size of the spoon that I use. I like to use a Japanese soup spoon once-in-a-while. I do not like using plastic spoons for oriental soups....for some reason your lips eventually hurt (combo of the sharp edges of plastic and ingredients in soup, I think).
46. I use chopsticks at least once a week & even have several non-disposable chopsticks in my silverware drawer.I own sets of stainless steel chopsticks.
47. I am scared of death & think about the silent tug of mortality a lot
48. I am really good at research.I have a reputation for being able to find the most obscure facts.
49. I do not like to put fresh spinach on pizza at home...only canned spinach....reason being the fresh spinach often wilts too much or becomes slightly crispy in an odd sort of way.
50. I want to build my own teddy bear at some point.
51. If you are cheating on a really nice person & think that it is alright to tell me because I am your friend....I have been known to tell the person being cheated on. Off the top of my head: In one situation where I was forced to do this the person doing the cheating instantly realized they were wrong & forgave me for telling. In another situation, the cheater temporarily convinced them that there was no cheating...temporarily. Don't cheat on a really nice person who does nothing but love you.
52. I detest mangoes. I like mango lemonade.

Listening To.....

I love singing along with "Netcasty" to this song.

In My Life....

-----Pepsi and Vanilla Rum....smooth taste. We also had tacos with lime and garlic salsa. Dinner was yummy.
-----One of my Christmas cactus is still blooming.
-----We are watching "The Greatest Story Ever Told" before I have to return it to the library. Great movie and beautiful scenery....but funny at times. A lot of the shooting was obviously done in Grand Canyon-esque places. I also read that people actually laughed in the theaters when John Wayne delivered his line as a Centurion. Husband guessed (correctly) that Balthazar was played by the same man who Ambassador Sarek (Spock's father).
-----Doggie HATES having nails clipped. I found a new way that might actually work....it involves a swimming pool.
-----The doctor says that he is pleased with how my Mother's chemo is going. There has been progress on reducing the tumor. :-) Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Keys You Can't Lose.....

Reading about keyless locks...particularly fingerprint door locks. This is a totally new concept to me.

The first things that occurs to me is that doors opened by fingerprint would save a lot of money on re-keying. When a person is no longer welcome or allowed at a location, their access could be easily denied. This would be great for any landlord who could afford to do such.

For people who must leave their (hopefully old enough) children at home this eliminates the chance of them opening the door to strangers....well maybe. Perhaps it could if there were a lock device on both sides of the door.

For some, AxissBiometrics and like keyless locks would not be an option. You have to have defined ridge patterns on your fingers...and some just do not have that. What happens when more than one person that you need to have access has this issue???....are you back to where you started with security problems (lost,stolen duplicated keys)?

What do you think of keyless locks? Would you consider using one/installing a whole system?

Thursday Thirteen....

1. I was looking for recipes for a bacon sarnie (and could not find any that I thought were good or interesting). I did find this recipe for a mushroom sarnie. A sarnie is a sandwich...."sarnie" is what they call it in Great Britian.
-----Egg and Chutney Sarnie....from the BBC series "Red Dwarf."
-----Ricotta, courgette, lemon and mint summer sarnie. "Courgette" is the French word for zucchini.

2. Internet Protests upcoming New Zealand Copyright Laws....by having a virtual blackout. I hope that you will join in some way.

3.

Finally, another episode of Hell's Kitchen was put up/aired. I wish that I had enough culinary skills to do something like being on this show. I HAVE had enough bosses that were less than pleasant...I could deal fairly well with the stress and yelling. I learn a lot about cooking when I watch this show.

4. The most unusual wedding dress I have ever seen

5. Listening to Johnny Cash songs on "JustHearIt." I like that the royalties are paid...legal music.
-----Don't Take Your Guns to Town
-----Wo ist Zuhause....Five Feet High and Rising.In German.
-----Jackson. I like this version because both June Carter Cash's voices are much stronger than I usually hear. Wonder if they were older here than when the two of them originally started singing this.
-----Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down
-----Guess Things Happen That Way
-----Thunderball
-----Ragged Old Flag
----Johnny Yuma Was a Rebel
-----Personal Jesus. I am not that fond of his rendition of this song. I like the verses....just not the chorus. I like that you can understand when Johnny says "reach out and touch Faith"....until recently I thought that the lyric was "reach out and touch me." As the song progresses, I think that Johnny's rendition gets better...maybe it is like someone thinking about what they are saying and getting more excited. Maybe I like Johnny's rendition of this more than I thought.

6. Creamy Corn Soup with Cumin Croutons

7. Has anyone noticed that some shows are starting to have their episodes be further and further apart? I do not like having to wait weeks for an episode.

8. Douglas Adams is one of my fave authors. Below are some quotes from him.
-----I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
-----It is no coincidence that in no known language does the phrase 'As pretty as an Airport' appear.
-----There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
-----You live and learn. At any rate, you live.
I could have gotten these from my Douglas Adams books....but got them from "The Quotations Page." The Quotations Page is the oldest quotations website on the Internet....established 1994.

9. I have been reading about keyless locks...particularly those that open using fingerprints. For some reason, John McCain and his not remembering how many houses he has jumped to mind.

10.

11.
12.
13.

A work-in-progress right now. :-) I hope that all of the Thursday Thirteen former owners are doing as well as can be. When Thirteen went down I had offered to take over or learn to take over the meme but got no reply. I recently found someone who has informally taken it over. I am very happy to be participating in this event again....it was one of the regularly-fun-parts of my week. :-)

And then....
I did not get this finished due to a bizarre typing problem. Blogger would not let me type the letters C,H and T. Firefox would not let me type the letters C,H,T and V. WEIRD. The problem was fixed by rebooting. I am also going to try some canned air on my keyboard....though the computer is only a few months old. WEIRD. Hope I don't have some strange virus.

We will try this again next week.

Time for me to get new glasses.

I absolutely need at least a new pair of lenses. I can tell when I am overdue...vision is "off," eye starts tilting outward more, sometimes the other eye starts tilting outward and I get headaches. Obviously, I have eye problems.

My lenses are super-expensive and only help the above problem a little (a problem I sometimes make artwork out of). I wear them as a "Clark Kent" disguise. I don't like that people say negative things to me when I don't wear them (and sometimes when I do). I hope that Zenni is able to work with my prescription....but haven't figured out if they can yet.

I often look at Zenni....because I would like to have a larger glasses wardrobe and I enjoy telling others how they can save money on such an expensive item. Prescription eyeglasses for only $8!....seriously, many pairs are that low on Zenni. The reason the prices are so low, is that Zenni makes their own frames and sells them directly to customers....obviously the world of eye-wear would be so different if all the companies did that. :-)

Zenni Optical in the New York Times?!....there are a lot of tips in this article about how to take care of your eyesight in these tough economic times.

I will eventually get some fun green glasses....to compliment green outfits. I am immensely fond of the color green. :-)

For now, I am looking for something that is titanium...and for good reason-titanium is strong. My current glasses are a little worse for wear after an incident in which I knocked them off the chair and then tripped/stepped on them while trying to pick them up. I need strong glasses. Titanium frames are usually pretty,too.

Seeing Straight Without Breaking Bank . Again, if you have to pay a lot for eye-care, go read the New York Times article....hopefully, this will help.

Curious as Cat Meme.....

1) If you could eliminate (or lessen the effect of) one emotion from your life, which would you choose?
Anxiety. It takes a lot for me to get truly on edge....but I hate what anxiety does to me and those around me.I also hate if I get anxious when I need to be the calm one for the sake of others. I consider myself to be one of the strongest people I know though.

2) What one thing would you find the hardest about being in prison?
Not being able to garden out in nature whenever I please. I have a lot of plans for this year...including a farm fountain where tilapia will be raised (a few of them for dinner). Next year, we are looking at beekeeping...prisons just aren't very accommodating of bee hives. If it were a prison accommodating of my bees, my prison tattoo could read something like "The Beekeeper" or "Hive Woman."

3) Who has surprised you most with their faith?
One former friend who didn't have any and one who still thinks they don't have any (but I know better on that second one). Oh...and several people who profess to have faith but really don't care about anyone but themselves. Sorry, that is as specific as this answer will get. The way they act, you would think that the people I am talking about were all being hidden by the Faith Protection Program.
-Anne Rice also surprised me when she decided to return to Catholicism.
-By the way: Did you know that Anne Rice's real name is Howard?

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Well...I guessed this was skin on the hand or cheek. The title of the picture is "skin." The first thing that comes to mind when I think of my skin right now is....dry.

Blogosphere/Twitterverse Join to Protest NZ's "Guilt By Accusation" Law

Internet Protests Upcoming New Zealand Copyright Laws...these rather unreasonable laws will take effect at the end of this month. In what essentially amounts to "Guilt by Accusation," alleged copyright violators will have there websites suspended before any investigation. Imagine the havoc this could cause if someone wanted to halt your business' competition or simply did not like you. I have also read that there are no penalties proposed for false accusations.

Some of my Twitter Followers who are protesting:
-----Event Finder...a New Zealand events and gig guide

Manic Monday......

Of all your favorite foods, which one would you find the most difficult to give up for the rest of your life?
Apples. Usually soft and from some local orchard. Sprinkled with salt right from the shaker. Soft does not equal mushy. Apples that would not be considered outstanding....without the salt. Yes, I have very specific likes.

Which month of the year do you think best describes your personality?
February....because I change. I feel both more adult and more childlike all the time. I see this as good.

If you could be a contestant on any game show, past or present, which show would you pick?

Wheel of Fortune....because I am so good at that game. I am also good at Jeopardy but don't know THAT much trivia...wish that I did. Like Solomon, I have a great admiration for wisdom.

People are saying our Government is the man behind the curtain.

September 11th widow among Flight 3047 Plane Crash victims. What surprised me on the thread that I just linked was all the people talking of conspiracy.

The other day I saw a bumper sticker that said "September 11 was an inside job." The bumper sticker sighting was the first time that I have heard things like this. I have read about the government possibly causing earthquakes and so on. I had also heard plenty of theories about hiding incompetence regarding the fact that September 11 might occur or about how it was handled. I had never heard anyone say that the United States government arranged September 11.

I was further amazed to find out that there is a growing movement that is theorizing the same sort of thing...."terrorism" caused by the Government.

I don't know what to think of these new ideas. Of course, it reminds me of the book "1984" which has always had a profound effect on me. In order to believe such planning occurred though....I would have to believe that our nation's leaders are truly evil.

Friday Fill-In....

1. It seems like _____.
Obama is doing a much better job than Bush.

2. _____ when you're done, please?
Wash your hands. For instance, seeing a woman lick every single bit of food off her fingers and then want to serve customers at a restaurant. For instance, people who don't feel they need to wash when returning from the restroom. For instance, the person who is cleaning at closing time....also at restaurants.

3. If I thought you _____ I'd _____!
The only thing I can think of is the song lyric...."If I knew your were coming, I'd have baked a cake!" I am super-excited because I just found a recipe for an Ale Cake.

4. _____ is what I think of most when I think of you.
I don't have an answer for this one yet...as far as the Blogosphere goes. I think that many people would either say Blogging or Generosity...if this question were about me. That is not a boast...I just write a lot and Gift a lot.

5. To me, Valentine's Day means _____.
Of course, a celebration of love. One of the gifts that I had not seen before is Cake and a Prayer. Husband is restoring a cuckoo clock that he found for me....that is my Valentine's gift. I still do not know what to get him....looking for some sort of special wine. I think Husband's gift will be a wine in a hand-decorated bag....and a handmade certificate for a wine-of-the month (picked for his tasting pleasure by me). There....answering this question finally made me figure out what to get that might make Husband smile.

6. _____ gives me strength.
Husband's love. Not exactly a good habit...but, so do caffeinated mints.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _____, tomorrow my plans include _____ and Sunday, I want to _____!
Tonight-Beer Bratwurst w/cabbage
Saturday-something Valentiney. Including a slow dance.
Sunday-Visiting my Mother. She is doing OK...seems to be losing some hair from the chemo (Stage 4 Breast Cancer). Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers...that the chemo is working.

My Doggie Reccomendations.....

Our Doggie will do all sorts of tricks for these. Smells a lot like Thanksgiving dinner. One of the places that you can buy them is Best Bully's. The current sale at Best Bully's is good...I have seen these for $11.99 on other sites. They smell good enough that I am tempted to try one.
___________________

Doggie has two of these. Duck 1, we call "Dead Duck" as the stuffing,quacker,etc. have all been played out in Doggie's more aggressive play stage....more like the shell of a stuffed animal waiting for stuffing. The other Duck travels with Doggie...and is mainly in tact. The feet and other cloth parts are missing from both ducks. Still, these ducks have withstood the test of time/safety for us (with careful seizure of the stuffing on the first one). Doggie likes to play Fetch with these and knows the word "duck." When Doggie has been told "No"....this is the first thing Doggie goes to relieve stress on.

The Freebie Adventures continue.

I am the Queen of Trying New Things. Today I sent for:
-----Light & Easy Cookbook. I won the game to get this. The game was fun and I was surprised/pleased by how much I know about heart health. This cookbook will be a gift for my Mother who has recently had a heart attack. This book is a part of the Go Red for Women awareness campaign.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other things I am waiting for:
-----Bee Pollen. I am super-excited about the health benefits. Next year, we are planning to start backyard beekeeping.
-----The new Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond True Delights from Quaker.
-----Celine Dion "Sensational" Fragrance. I hope it is an actual tube of perfume...so, I can make sure that I am not allergic. Buying an actual bottle of fragrance and then trying to return it when you break out is....NOT A FUN EXPERIENCE.
-----Diet Dr. Pepper.
-----Nature's Family Sun Crystals. A natural sweetener w/only 4 calories.
-----Breath-A-Licious Green Bone. For Doggie...who is peacefully sleeping cuddled up to me.
-----Yogi Tea. Intriqued by the idea of a "Mexican Sweet Chili" flavor....combines cocoa and cayenne. Sounds like the mole of teas.
-----Dunkin Donuts Dark Coffee.
Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin' keeps me blogging. Try Dunkin' Donuts Coffee For Free. Get a Sample
-----Free Water Testing Kit.
-----Miniature Football. Perfect for Niece.
Also:
-----I have been trying to check Free Sample Forager for updates daily. This is where I found the cookbook Freebie today-I am hoping that it is an exciting cookbook.
-----Frugal Freebies I find some great things (like the water testing kit and miniature football listed above). I love that this site has a place where you can check off your reaction to each Freebie. I follow Frugal Freebies on Twitter.
-----Sometime: There is to be a biographical film about Sam Kinison. It will air on HBO. I wonder if they could get the actual celebrities for the "Wild Thing" video.
-----Sometime: I am hoping that Iron Butterfly answers my e-mailed suggestion that they somehow digitalize Elvis singing In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida. Elvis would have been excellent at singing this song. :-) It would be neat to see. :-)
What's happening in your life (and on your blog)??? :-)
_________________
As for what is happening in my life: Please keep my Mother in your thoughts and prayers. The list of things that she is battling is very long....including the risk of a second heart attack, diabetes and Stage 4 Breast Cancer. :-( My mom has been through two chemo sessions and seems to be dealing well with that. She has not lost her hair at this time (of course, she is anxious about possibly losing it). Her hair does look a little different to me.
Another visit to The Wonderful World of Freebies....
I am the Queen of Trying New Things. Today I sent for:
-----Free Water Testing Kit. Dreading finding out what is possibly in our water. Occasionally, I taste something unusual (bleachy-smelling) that makes my stomach upset.
-----Miniature Football. Perfect for a niece of mine. I wonder what advertisement will be on it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Other things I am waiting for:
-----Bee Pollen. I am excited about the health benefits. Hopefully, Husband will be willing to try. Husband is a honey fan...but not a Trying-New-Things-That-Sound-Unusual fan.
-----The new Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond True Delights from Quaker. These are granola. I am very picky about the flavor/ texture of my granola. I am hoping that I like these. I love finding coupons for snack bars....so, I will be on the lookout for coupons if I do like them.
-----Celine Dion "Sensational" Fragrance. Says that you can try it. I hope that this actually means you get to try it....versus waving cards under your nose. I like to make sure I am not allergic to a perfume before I purchase.
-----Diet Dr. Pepper. At the very least, we can use this in recipes. Yes, sometimes I try recipes that use soda pop.
-----Nature's Family Sun Crystals. A natural sweetener with only 4 calories. Made with raw cane sugar.
-----Breath-A-Licious Green Bone. For Doggie to try. Doggie will be excited....can usually smell when Doggie items are in the mail and will start jumping around. :-)
-----Yogi Tea. Intriqued by the idea of a "Mexican Sweet Chili" flavor....combines cocoa and cayenne.
-----Dunkin Donuts Dark Coffee.
Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin' keeps me blogging. Try Dunkin' Donuts Coffee For Free. Get a Sample

Also:
-----I try to check Free Sample Forager for updates daily.
-----Frugal Freebies is another good blog to browse. I notice that there is a balance of freebies as of late....US only,Canada only,UK only,Worldwide. The above are some of my Tweets for Monday. I took out Tweets if they were a reply,if they were personal, etc......whatever reason I felt was appropriate. I also left in Tweets for whatever reason I felt was appropriate. I have also added links on some Tweets...this is a blog after all. :-)

I am @bluestbutterfly on Twitter.

-----The CW offers FREE viewing of full episodes of several programs. I watch 90210 and America's Next Top Model. I would love to watch whatever was already shot of the canceled show Valentine....and wish that the CW would put it up on Hulu (also a free viewing site....if you didn't already know....has so many great series and movies).

The Breast Cancer Site

No-strings-attached. All you do is click...and the sponsors make a donation. You can click once daily....I do. Proceeds go to free mammograms for those in need. My mother has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer and is currently undergoing chemo.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JustHearIt is a free site where you can listen to just about every song you could think of. I like it because it is a legal way to listen to music....the royalties get paid. I have applied to get into the Private Beta so I can try out the full features of the site.
I also frequent another site like this called Songza (royalties paid...free music). I am starting to like JustHearIt better though....it moves a little faster and has a playlist option.
I use both of these services to research any band or song that I have never heard of. I am currently interested in a band called "Carolina Liar" that I saw on the most recent episode of 90210.
-----Little Nell's See You Round Like a Record ends with her repeating "See You Round Like a Record" in a manner that sounds like a broken record.
-----Punishment Park is a particularly annoying Adam Ant song. My fave Adam Ant album is "Manners & Physique."
-----I want to start listening to and collecting different versions of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." I find this to be a particularly moving song. I like to collect different versions of a song.
Frugal Freebies is a blog that I love to work my way through. It is a Canadian-based blog....so, a lot of the offers are for Canadians. It is obvious to me that the author puts a lot of work into their blog.
How did I compile the list at the top of this post?
I now use LoudTwitter to retrieve my blogs every day.....they are sent to my e-mail. :-)
-The dotted underlines are something that LoudTwitter adds....those don't seem to be working right now.
-----How are you doing on your goals for the New Year?
-----February 11:Whole Foods Chocolate Fest in MD, DC, VA, KY, PA, OH and southern NJ stores! From 5-7pm. Sample chocolate bars, cakes, drinks and more. Thank you, to @dluxelist for sharing this event.
-----February 13-15: Katsucon 15. Katsucon is an annual fan convention for those interested in anime, manga and Japanese culture.
-----May 2: Free Comic Book Day I usually find something of interest each year.
-----May 12: Florida Conference for Women. Education and networking event for women. I like that this conference has a program for Young Women.
-----July 4-August 4: World E-book Fair. I attend every year. Thousands of e-books can be browsed/downloaded for FREE.
-----Sometime: There is to be a biographical film about Sam Kinison. It will air on HBO. I wonder if they could get the actual celebrities for the "Wild Thing" video.
-----Sometime: I am hoping that Iron Butterfly answers my e-mailed suggestion that they somehow digitalize Elvis singing In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida. Elvis would have been excellent at singing this song. :-) It would be neat to see. :-)
What's happening in your life (and on your blog)??? :-)
The list of things that she is battling is very long....including the risk of a second heart attack, diabetes and Stage 4 Breast Cancer. :-( My mom has been through two chemo sessions and seems to be dealing well with that. She has not lost her hair at this time (of course, she is anxious about possibly losing it). Her hair does look a little different to me.
The wonderful world of Freebies. :-)
I am the Queen of Trying New Things. Today I sent for:
-----Yogi Tea. I am most intriqued by the idea of a "Mexican Sweet Chili" flavor. The Sweet Chili tea combines cocoa and cayenne.
-----Dunkin Donuts Dark Coffee. It has been a long time since I have had anything Dunkin Donuts.
Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin' keeps me blogging. Try Dunkin' Donuts Coffee For Free. Get a Sample
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Other things I am waiting for:
-----Bee Pollen. I am excited about the health benefits.
-----The new Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond True Delights from Quaker. These are granola. I am very picky about the flavor and texture of my granola. I do not usually like raspberry and chocolate together. We will see what I think.
-----Celine Dion "Sensational" Fragrance. Says that you can try it. I hope that this actually means you get to try it....versus waving a card under your nose. I like to see how the scent/ingredients interact with my skin. I have regretted many a perfume purchase/sample.
-----Diet Dr. Pepper. At the very least, we can use this in recipes.
-----Nature's Family Sun Crystals. A natural sweetener. Only 4 calories. Made with raw cane sugar.
-----Breath-A-Licious Green Bone. For Doggie to try. :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also:
-----I regularly check Free Sample Forager for updates.
-----Frugal Freebies is another good blog to browse through. Last time I checked, a lot of the freebies written about were for people who live in Canada.
Exclusive Interview with single mother of 14. Surprisingly, she has never been on welfare. Hearing her viewpoint, now what do you think? I have seen many people have some heated discussions on this.
My heart goes out to all the children.....that they get to come home soon. Especially, hugs to the littlest baby.
-----Recipe: Chef Ji's Sparkling Scarlet Sangria I don't know if I will be able to try this one. For some reason, all sangria that I have tasted makes me sick...yet to figure out what the common denominator is.
-----Hell's Kitchen is on this list of "Top Fifteen Places to Eat on TV."
-----Recipe: Smoked Southwestern Chicken Enchiladas with Poblano Cream...Colleen's "Signature Dish" from the first episode.
-----Andrea is a line cook....what an appropriate career for this show.
-----I think that Gordon handled the "Elimination" with such compassion. I hope to see that contestant at a restaurant/on the show in the future.
-----Microwave Risotto...takes about 30 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of cooking. The recipe says to use real Parmesan....who would use that much fake Parmesan???
Chris talks about how to back up your Tweets from Twitter (in the above video). He has a point....I worry about my blog at times. I want to be able to show my blog and my Tweets to people for years to come...and would even like my ancestors to see them. Yes, I think about things like who I will leave my Blog to. :-)
I often listen to things like Michael Damian's "Rock On" on Songza. Songza utilizes things like YouTube.....and makes sure that the artists gets paid. It's free....and you can find almost any artist/song.
-----Michael Damian's "Rock On" on Songza...I even have Husband singing it now. :-)
-----Michael performing "Rock On" live at Clifton Common on Songza. Having that young lady dance on stage with him was a very neat move. :-)
-----Songza
I think that I will watch some of the movie that Michael has acted in....right now I am busy trying to find "House of Forever.
OK...it's a Coca-Cola Seatbelt Belt Buckle. Also, interchangeable....so, you can wear other seatbelt belt buckles. Apparently this was a big trend (seatbelt belt buckles)...but I never noticed.
In the Hudson.....
"Federal officials have released the audio of the conversation the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549 had with air traffic controllers as his plane lost power and he had to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River."
What do you think?
-----"Phelps Shouldn't Get a Pass"
-----"Phelps Falls From His Pedestal-Why are You Surprised?"
-----"Phelps a Toke-ing of Pot Legalizers' Affection"....I guess maybe the fight for pot legalization does have something at stake if this really does go to court.
-----What Ashton Kutcher has to say on the matter
-----On Blogher, I found something interested pointed out in one of the opinions....Michael Phelps is getting much more sympathy then most "caught" using marijuana.
-----10 Ways Social Media Will Change in 2009. I am a social networking and micro-blogging addict. :-)
-----Now this was a nice Live Blogging opportunity....Vancouver Opera. I am hoping to get a BlogHership this year and go to BlogHer...where I will likely do a lot of Live Blogging. :-)
-----Art Fire. I think it is better than Etsy and Ebay combined (at least for art).
ArtFire - Buy Handmade - Sell Handmade
Happy Groundhogs Day....
-----The official site of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club
-----The Groundhog Day Birthday Club. Celebrities and ordinary people who were born on February 2nd.
Hell's Kitchen and Ratatouille
-----One way to make ratatouille...without honey. :-) I would try it with the honey though. I could not find a recipe for Seth's "Aubergine Ratatouille w/Honey and Cinnamon Encrusted Rack of Lamb." I did find a recipe for "Portuguese Chicken with Roasted Vegetable Ratatouille"...and that does contain both runny honey and aubergines. For those that wonder, "aubergine" is the french word for eggplant.
-----I was amused when I found this balloon animal.
I am a Meatloaf fan (as in the musician). I thought about titling this post "Chef Out of Hell 5:Back Into Hell's Kitchen." :-)
-----What are your goals for the New Year?
-----February 3: Prayer Vigil for missing New Yorker Laura Garza (see my sidebar for details of her disappearance). The vigil will be at 4:30 at the Newburgh Mall. February 3rd will be the 2-month-anniversary of Laura's disappearance. The Newburgh Mall parking lot is the last place that Laura was seen.
-----February 5: A North Carolina McDonald's is having a fundraiser for a woman who has Stage 4 Breast Cancer.
-----February 8: The Grammy Awards
-----February 13-15: Katsucon 15. Katsucon is an annual fan convention for those interested in anime, manga and Japanese culture.
Inspired by the latest Diggnation episode.....
This post was inspired by "Diggnation" Episode 187. There was a embedded video here...but then Revision 3 seemed to be having problems. I had two videos on my blog and visitors were being greeted to both of them autoplaying at the same time for no apparent reason. The video will return as soon as someone can figure out what suddenly went wrong. Grumble. Grumble. Note: There is always a PG-ish question at the end of the show.
-----I am trying to find some promising recipes that use Jolt Cola...not having much luck.
-----So, you can make oragami from all those little Netflix envelopes.
Some of my teaware finds:
-The Serenity Japanese Tea Cups are available in six colors. I already have a Japanese tea set....but would like another that I am more willing to share with guests. The current set is more reserved for Husband and I. I do share my sake set with guests. :-)
My online friend, Thomas (of "Living Next Door to Alice") offered some great tea advice.
Thomas said:
-There are a lot of tea sets available at Etsy, and a lot of the artists will custom-make items if you ask them to.
-My favorite place to buy tea is Upton Tea. They have everything from everywhere, and they don't hit you with huge shipping fees.
A easy recipe for Ginger Tea
Lemon Ginger Tea is pretty easy, too.
Recipes....
-----Recipe for pomegranate jam. I will eventually do this. I love pomegranates but rarely have the patience for picking out the seeds anymore.
-----Recipe for Jolt cake. The jolt comes from espresso...not Jolt Cola.
-----Recipe for chili-rubbed steak. The rub makes a good gift. I will be giving one of my siblings some of this rub next Christmas....if I like it myself. I like most things that have coffee as an ingredient. I am not sure where to find dark Mexican chili powder.
My Super Bowl Experience.....
-----I did not pick a team to cheer for before the game. Life has been so stressful lately that I did not realize this until the Kickoff Show started. I then looked at the teams and made a sudden decision to support the Steelers. I felt postive about the fact that the Steelers have a good defense. Obama and I were cheering for the same side today.
-----I ended up having a solo Super Bowl experience. No one in my family or extended family was interested in watching. Just me and Doggie. That was depressing.
-----Doggie went on a Potty Strike, would not eat salmon treat and eventually had an upset stomach.
-----My hand hurt because I somehow cracked open the skin during my sleep.
-----I noted that a lot of detail was present in this year's game.
-----My hand slipped and I splashed both hands with Aquamarine Chrome nail polish. I decided to clean the front of my hands, not worry about the back and proceed with the manicure. :-)
-----Jennifer Hudson looked understandably nervous at the beginning of the National Anthem.
-----I was happy to see the Cardinals using strategy. I was happy to see a Challenge calmly issued at the beginning of the game.
-----Husband was not thrilled with the combined smell of salmon treat and the vinegar that I initially used on the Doggie mess when he surprisingly came home during the middle of the game.
-----I learned about what a "false start" is....going ahead of when permitted (versus a fair start or clean start). I am glad to see that warnings are initially given. This has to be a nerve-wracking game.
-----I decided that I will watch the new G.I. Joe movie. The trailer looked interesting. I expected a live action of G.I. Joe to be boring.
-----The GoDaddy commercial was annoying....very annoying.
-----Visited the Twitterbowl.....an activity set up on Twitter. The Twitterbowl was primarily for people not watching the game and a lot of good causes were mentioned during this time.
Then I suddenly had a chance to go grocery shopping. Those who know me in real life, will readily agree that I would choose grocery shopping over the SuperBowl. I love to grocery shop. I find it a fun challenge to come up with options within whatever budget. I also love finding new things at the grocery. I got back just in time to see the Steelers celebrating on the field.
:-)
