I hope you don't mind that I just linked directly to the story (w/o posting a link crediting you for telling me about this). This post is generally done a little bit differently than my normal blogging (it is also exempt from "Exercising for Comments).

I am not sure I understand how the little boy came to be swept away. Was he outside playing at the time it rained? Do the drains always look like that or just after storms?

I guess that my solution would be to clean out the silt once-and-for-all....and continue to follow up on the drain conditions afterward. From the controversy, it sounds like this will be have to be intensely government-supervised.

I hope that something is done about this. One life lost, when it could possibly have been prevented,
is way too many.

I feel so sad for this child's family.

Last week a little boy was washed away in the heavy rains in Bangalore. They could not even locate the body yet. The Mother is still in shock.
