Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-thon

(My total count was 181 pages. Stay tuned for a Wrap-Up Post!)

Pages so far..63.
I am making sure I have Anna Belfrage's "To Catch a Falling Star" well read for a review, excerpt and giveaway I am posting on the 29th. :-)

I have just finished page 118.
I am learning the different names there were for ingredients during the pioneer days (baking soda was called saleratus). I had forgotten about the presence of Laura's grandmother in the Little House stories. Laura and Almanzo's childhoods were quite different as far as ease of obtaining food.
---Codfish Balls. The author advises to do the simmering of the codfish while the people in your house are sleeping- serve it for breakfast and avoid having the smell that accompanies the cooking.

If you have a chance, please turn off your verification for the day - those new picture ones take me forever to figure out :)

One of my favorite things about cheerleading for the read-a-thon is that it allows for me to check out all of the books everyone is reading :) I hope that you are having a great read-a-thon so far! Keep up the great work and READ, READ, READ!!!

I think I will have to see if I can find that cookbook. I would like to try a few recipes. Have fun reading.

I've been wanting to read the Little House books again for awhile now. Such a wonderful series!

I thought the cover for "To Catch a Falling Star" was pretty, too. It actually has little sparkles on it.

I do not have any verification on. Are you talking about the verification that Blogger now makes you have? For that one, just click that you are not a robot. Sorry, Blogger gives no way to turn it off. If that is the one you are talking about, I have to use it when I make comments on my own posts even.

I'm reading PIONEER GIRL...I love learning new things about people that seem so familiar from years of reading the Little House books...

Happy reading!

I hope your read-a-thon was a lot of FUN! :-) Thanks for visiting my blog.
