Lies a River Deep

My Thoughts

Bessie Day Hardy seems to have a fairly calm life with nothing drastic really standing out for the first few chapters. Bessie's ponderings meander along like a river for most of the first few chapters...then suddenly we start hearing the cat's thoughts and the story gets incredibly more complex from there. As a teenager, Bessie is incredibly optimistic, incredibly confused and steadfastly loyal to the love of her young life, Roland. One summer night, Bessie's life is changed forever....and it effects the lives of everyone she ever cares about for the rest of her life. Somewhere in this world you know there are people that are hurt as badly as the victims in this story and their are people as messed up as the bad unforgettable foray into how deep lies can extend and hurt. I would like to think that Bessie has the ultimate happy ending.
As a wise-beyond-his-years man once told me concerning love...the truth will set you free.
