Texas has raised the speed limit to 85 on one of their busy highways!
So they get higher toll venues and do not take the cost of human lives into account. If the limit is 85, then people who push the envelope above the 5-mile leeway will be going in the nineties or, in some cases, worse. Way to make the bad drivers even more dangerous.

In My Life.....

-----Little One was pushing the tricycle by the handlebars earlier and pretending it was a lawn mower.
-----We got quit a few tosses of the big plastic lid in with Fetch-Obsessed Doggie before one of the other doggies heard her ecstatic barks and started the usual bullying about it. Both dogs are a problem when it comes to playing fetch. Separate play when it comes to fetch. Sigh. I have been trying to figure a way to get the bigger dog to compromise. I might try distraction by throwing two lids with perfect timing and see if they will play nicely.
-----I made a apple whipped cream last night. It was actually my first time making whipped cream by myself. It was buttery at first and then it went slightly liquidy...but it tasted so GOOD. I got the recipe from an old Pillsbury cookbook and I found some tips from Pillsbury on how to make whipped cream that I will be using next time. There are a lot of good, comforting homestyle recipes in that cookbook that I want to try. I love finding Cucumbers in Sour Cream recipes and I am going to try one of those this week. :-)
-----Little One gets to go to a new park this week. :-) This will be the first time we have gone to a park that Little One is old enough to do more than the swings. Normally, we do swings t parks, play on Church equipment or use the slide, etc. that we have at home. This will be fun and we are excited to have our friend with us. I hope there are pretty flowers and landscape for me to photograph.
-----Praying for a relative who is having custody issues following a tragedy.
-----I also made a simple recipe from the old Pillsbury cookbook that I mentioned: Thinly sliced roast beef, cheese (we had mild cheddar) and BBQ sauce on a hamburger bun. Wrap the sandwiches in foil and put in the oven until the cheese melts. The recipe did not specify a temperature. I am fond of anything resembling tin foil packet cooking.
-----I watched "Elvis and Me" again. There are so many stories and obvious fabrications regarding what happened in Elvis' life (I am not saying that is necessarily what is going on in this movie). I guess the world will never know.
-----Amusingly, I saw an Elvis and Priscilla fanpage where the owner let everyone know that she was not Priscilla.
-----My friend lent me a huge binder for a homeschool curriculum called "Education Plus." It is for blending Biblical teachings in with the various core subjects. The binder is about 4 inches thick and is just for Genesis 1-11! It is supposed to be one of the best curriculums for this. I am so glad that I have so many friends that have homeschooled, are teachers or even teach at Montessori (which I hold in high esteem for a lot of things).
-----We start toddler preschool in the Spring. :-)
-----A friend gave us about 30 books on all kinds of subjects. There are board books, school books for when Little One is older and books in Spanish (of which I am an intermediate speaker and can read everything even if I don't understand). I want to go through a couple big boxes of books we have in storage soon. Children can never have too many books. As I type this, Little One is looking at "Good Night, Gorilla."

In My Life.....

-----We went to a restaurant called "Burger Barge" with Brother-in-Law. They had a pretty extensive menu. I had the "Double Dare Ya" which was amazing....yummy chipotle-mayo "Dock Sauce." The fries were good and Husband could tell they weren't cooked in any kind of soybean oil (allergy). The appetizer we all shared was Breaded Luciano Cheese Blobs with Ranch Dressing...Little One thought these were great and contemplated drinking the dressing. The view of the Illinois River and the dock was beautiful. Ducks wanted peoples' food. Little One got to play in the sand. I will have to post some of the photos.
-----Little One went on a walk with a friend of ours and picked an apple. :-) More and more tiny bits of fresh apples are being tried by Little One. Most of it gets spit out but I can tell they are more of an enjoyment each time.
-----Little One and I met the members of the Christian band "The Skies Revolt." We also met their awesome (and huge) dog who gets around on only three legs.

-----Little One was dancing to Sean Michel music. Little One really has moves. Also used a living room table and the back of a SUV for drums repeatedly. Very musical. I hope we find a good drum set for a toddler sooner or later here.

-----Kudos to Fingerhut. I bought a power supply that does all sorts of other things a few years ago when I thought I was going to need it for blogging at Cornerstone Festival. I wrote it off as not working or not working very well do to a part that broke during shipping. That fuse might have to be replaced but the machine works so well! It only took a few seconds to jump our friend's car. :-)
-----I have to take the final for my World Music class soon. This last week is about Cuban music.
-----In about 3 days, I am starting a class that is a survey of large amount of poetry. What poets do you like and/or find their work powerful?

:-)
