THURSDAY THIRTEEN.....

1.

A leak in the water hose creates beauty.

2. Recipes via Walmart:
-----Easy Lamb Creole Gumbo. I wish our Walmart still carried lamb.

3. June 2012 Projects:
-----We are going to try our hand at growing an avocado tree again. This time the strategy is to use a domed cup from Starbucks. We hope to at least get a nice houseplant out of our efforts. Last time we tried, the pits grew underground for quiet a while but never sprouted.
----- We can start other seeds in the avocado shells. Two biodegradable pots (to be thrown in the compose heap later). :-)

4. Avocado Recipes:
-----Avocado-Chocolate Truffle
-----Avocado Pie

5. Oprah's Book Club is back.

6.
-----Indiana is prosecuting a woman for a suicide attempt that killed her unborn child. She could be sentenced 45 years to LIFE.
-----There are starting to be more hospital-at-home programs for intensive-care patients. I guess this is okay as long as it is a careful and rational choice by all parties involved. Knowing the way healthcare in our country tends to go downhill, I am a bit scared that parts of these programs will one day become mandatory.
-----The Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA find Osama Bin Laden has been jailed for treason. A LONG jail sentence, too.
-----A grandmother was successfully sued by the parents for a injurious fall while carrying the granddaughter. I wonder if they will all go on to have a relationship with each other. :-(

7.

The Care Bears return to television this month.

8. Ann Romney's Pinterest
She does not post often enough for my taste and I find her interests to be kind of boring. Disappointment.

9. It is possible that Amelia Earhart sent MANY radio signals after disappearing.  If the truth is ever discovered, this could be a much sadder story than it already is.

10. Funny observation made by Al Roker (spelling) during the Diamond Jubilee....the streets have to be cleared first before the people are let in due to all the mounted soldiers. I never would have thought of this detail....imagine having that job duty.

11. Famous Dave's (BBQ)....June 2012

Homemade potato chips to sample the sauces.

The sauces! Our favorite was the "Sweet & Zesty."

Husband's burger. I will have to ask him what it was called.
I got to try a bit of the yummy and zesty catsup. I am told the burger was awesome.

My dinner.
Garlic red-skin mashed potatoes.
A pleasantly sweet cornbread muffin.
A huge piece of BBQ chicken with their "Rich & Sassy" sauce.
Wilber Beans (baked beans loaded with smoked pork, brisket, hot link sausage and jalapeño peppers).

Famous Dave's Baked Wilber Beans recipe

Little One enjoyed some of everything on my plate. As a matter of fact, Little One really LOVED the entire restaurant ex;perience. It was so awesome to see Little One dancing to each song and making sure we were listening (blues, oldies, roadhouse). The table was clean and there were coasters and a spiralbound menu to play with. Plus a lot of attention from the waitress. The whole thing was one big smile for Little One and I felt so blessed by this great evening.

12.
Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake. The recipe makes 2 cakes. :-)
Green Tea Margarita
Strawberry Pineapple Pie
Greengage Pie. This is more of an illustration than a recipe. I like greengage plums a lot. :-)

13.

Your flowers are lovely. However, the news items you mention are rather depressing and certainly put together a sad commentary on the state of the nation.
