San Francisco is considering a ban of unsolicited copies of the Yellow Pages. There would be a fine for violations.

I think the First Amendment protects the distribution of literature, so if anyone cares enough to challenge it in court they'll probably win.

But I can't imagine that the Yellow Pages are very profitable any more. Wait a year or two, and they'll probably go away on their own.

I usually save the Yellow Pages from different years and places that I have lived....they have been a life saver on more than one occasion when a company can no longer afford the listing. I would opt in to getting the Yellow Pages....even though I resent how often we get them and how many different phone books we get.
