I have had polaroid photographing as a hobby for many years, and I still love it!

I really wish that Polaroid could find a way not to discontinue the film.

It sounds like Polaroid will find a partnering company to keep limited supplies available. But it would be strange if there was suddenly no more Polaroid photos.

Michele sent me to say hello tonight. :)

I have heard that they may find a partnering company. I have not found anything to indicate that is actually happening yet. I hope that there is a limited supply kept....for people who are fans of this film it would be a great injustice to totally discontinue something with a loyal (though small) following. Anyway...I am glad that you visited. :-)

The reason Polaroid is getting out of the business is because demand has fallen below a level at which it remains profitable to continue to manufacture and distribute the film.

Purists who insist Polaroid remain in the business need to buy sufficient quantities to justify such a business. Because they haven't in recent years, Polaroid is making the smartest decision it can: get out.

It's always sad when a formerly leading-edge technology goes the way of the Pony Express. But that's life in the modern world.

I suspect there may be niche opportunities for some smart operator. But that would require Polaroid to make the technology available to others. Hmm...

I would hope that they would make it available to others...for that niche that still enjoys a classic. :-)
