Escaping death in burning buildings......

Somebody realizes that fireproof elevators would be a good idea.

Were the elevators in the World Trade Center fireproof????? Would there have been more survivors if there were?????

Husband says that tall buildings should have "building escape pods" on each floor. He doesn't know how that would work....maybe ejecting out the building or running out it on a track. Each escape pod would have independent operation (no collision). Then pretty much everyone would be safe. Somebody build escape pods please....maybe just large fireproof elevators on the side of the building.

Yes...on both the fireproof elevators and having some sort of escape pod.

Coming to visit your blog in a second. :-)

I think the problem is smoke more than fire. It would be really difficult to design an elevator that lets fresh air in but keeps smoke out.

I think that something can be done though. Some sort of filter? Or elevators equipped with the same breathing equipment that firefighters have?
