Iran....will sanctions work???

I just got a Yahoo Breaking News Alert....apparently, we are imposing new sanctions against Iran. I don't know what they will be yet but I can't really think of anything that would possibly deter them that wouldn't have human rights activists upset. I guess we will see what happens.

George is going to bomb them, and there's nothing we can do about it.

This must be exactly what it felt like to be a German in the 1930s. I see which way we're marching, and I can already see how this thing is going to end.

Just as they were, I'm in the unhappy position of hoping our enemies band together to stop us.

Iran simply cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapons program. No matter what. Their ultimate desire is to obliterate Israel and that should not come about. No matter what.

W. is not definitively going to bomb Iran. That's insane thinking. Obviously diplomacy should be attempted... but how many lines do you draw in the sand? Ahmadinejad will not stop... but we can hope he does like Libya and like North Korea... the latter so far looking like they will but it's still a wait and see on them.

Sanctions, I heard, will be focused towards weakening Iran's military and their continuation of arming insurgents in Iraq and supporting terrorism elsewhere. Hopefully citizens won't be affected. if they are, of course the U.S. will be blamed. But why? If their leader, afterall, decided to fly straight and not abuse human rights and support terrorism, then there wouldn't be sanctions... so why's it the fault of the U.S. when it's their regime who is inhumane?!?

If it comes to bombing Iran then that will be the best choice because they cannot be allowed to develop and use nuclear weapons in an act of genocide. To allow that to happen, Hitler's holocaust in WWII aside, would be the biggest act of immorality this world has allowed to happen.

Thank you for the candid opinions. I am afraid of this entire situation.
