2. Woman is finally able to lead a normal life...after having a pencil removed from her head. I am wondering how a pencil could be so well preserved after such a long time....what is there in the head/brain that would cause it not to have significant deterioration on its own?
3. Lifegem:
The LifeGem® is a certified, high-quality diamond created from the carbon of your loved one as a memorial to their unique life.
Well...if it can't be done with a lock of hair, I would like to get something like this done for me & my husband while we are still living. The cost are about the same as those for a wedding ring. When we are ready for anniversary rings, Husband & I are planning on clear diamonds for each other...and Husband will design the settings himself.
4. Man is rescued from the sea at a Dutch resort....turns out to be a giant Lego man.
Update I am wondering if this was something that a fan decided to do for the company's 75th anniversary.
5. Why you should wear your weddding ring on the fourth finger. What a charming story. This afternoon my husband tried it....it was a fun moment for us. There is some sadness to the eventual leave-takings though if you stop to think about it. I suppose that you can also look at it from the point of view though that, like the two fingers, good husbands and wives support each other with a lot of strength. :-)
6. I don't know if this is true but look at this alternative French clothing tag. Do you think Bush is an idiot by the way? I think with Dan Quayle, the idiot personification would have worn off....I perceived him as actually being intelligent & likely compassionate to the needs of our country. Interestingly, with Bush he has taken on the idiot personification after assuming office.
7. Chemical found in hard plastic linked to reproductive disorders
The compound, which is used in a variety of consumer items such as polycarbonate plastic baby bottles, microwave oven dishes and sports bottles, often seeps from containers and enters the bodies of humans.
-----My husband and I were talking about this today. If we ever have children, we will be using glass bottles (and/or nursing).
8. I didn't know that Laura Bush used to be a teacher (and a librarian). Anyway she called Barbara Morgan...the teacher who is going up in space.
I am glad to read that the shuttle launch preparations for Endeavor are going well.
-----Update-Endeavor blasted off!!! I hope that they make it safely to the International Space Station & that the whole mission goes well.
9. A company has been indicted in the Big Tunnel death in New York....that was the one where a panel fell on top of a lady & killed her. Did I read that right???....the maximum penalty is a 1 thousand dollar fine????
10. I am dancing at Ambrosia Dance Club in Second Life right now. I just go & dance by myself....no synchro dancing & I like to talk about the music. They just did Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." I have been listening to a band called "Lumpfish" that does a pretty good cover of that song.
------One thing I like about the Ambrosia Club is that it has places to just sit without making a spectacle of yourself...I like to do that while I am blogging. It gives me something great to listen to without worrying about bumping into people while I am typing. Also, no one comes up to you & says off-color things. Plus...when I sat down, the program rested me up against a pillar...so, I look pretty cool.
------I actually found myself outside the doors of a strip club in Second Life today. This was not included in the description. Not pleased about that one. But on an amusing note, I was talking about Nickelback (which was playing at the Ambrosia Club) & Husband is positive I said "Nippleback."
------Cheers to "DJ Venus" who did a good job in Ambrosia. However, she inspired Husband to dance to trance music....don't want a picture of this as he was disco-dancing to trance music . :-)
-----Speaking of Husband he was dancing the other day with what looked like gang symbols....fingers all over the place in positions a lot like Spock or some surfer sign. I told him to stop flashing gang symbols if that was what he was doing....he told me those were his "Rob Zombie fingers."
-------Other things playing at The Ambrosia Club:
- Let's Get Rocked...Def Leppard
- Green Day's version of "Brown-Eyed Girl"
- Nine Inch Nails. My lion in the "Shameless Lions Writing Group" is named Nin. :-)
- Rammstein's "Du Hast"

12. I never really thought about it but George W. Bush does have a lot of resemblance to Barbara Bush, too. Everyone always talks about his father & his brother...but no one much mentions Barbara anymore. t
13. R.I.P. Osama Bin Chewin'....the pessimistic woodchuck in the backyard. No one has seen him for some time now. Maybe he is hiding out in a hole someplace just waiting to unleash his army of big-toothed wood lovers. No, we don't really miss him but he was amusing to talk about. The trees are very happy now...no longer terrorized by the threat of weapons of bi-cuspid destruction.

There are some crazy news items eh! I read about the giant Lego man yesterday ... just bizarro! Happy TT and thanks for stopping by!
Yes....I am sure it will be an interesting story if anyone ever figures out where it came from.
And I enjoyed stopping by, Sue.
LMAO...great list! That would suck to have a pencil stuck in your head..lol
Wow, you did an awesome job here. How clever of you. Have a great TT. :)
I hope the lady that had the pencil removed is feeling better.
Gosh, wouldn't that have hurt...hmmm
Great list!
Happy T13!
:-) at Lori.
Number 1 is just awful. Having lived in Florida for so long, I've seen price-gouging after disasters.
AS for #6, when I was in ENGLAND 3 years ago, I got to a point where I let strangers know that I didn't vote for Bush, because once they figured out I was American, almost everyone I met would screw up his/her face and ask what happened to our country.
I would assume that the person who made the decision on Number 1 feels awful now.
Interesting list. Happy TT.
Thank you, Pussreboots. Happy TT.
That lego dude is just plain strange. Read about it yesterday, I wonder when we'll get to hear who left it there.
Happy T13
I can't believe it took them until now to be able to remove that pencil.
And the lifegems? Cool idea, but the focus on death is a bit disturbing, when it can also be made from a lock of hair from someone who is quite alive and well.
What a crazy, eclectic list! I love your blue butterfly. Happy TT!
This is an amazing list. I'd seen photos of the leggo man. I'm just waiting now for the explanation.
My favorite thing was the French laundry tag...to which I WILL be linking...
I love the laundry tag! That's just classic, whether it's a real tag or not.
And I agree with Robin - the lifegems idea could (should, IMO) focus more on living people. It's too macabre for me, otherwise.
Fence-
I am wondering about who left it there, too. Was it an artist making some statement that we don't understand? Was it a company whose advertisement got away from them? I am wondering if Lego has made a statement about the matter.
Robin-
I plan to make a ring from the hair of someone who is alive. If my husband passes away before me, it will definitely be a cherished memento.
It did take such a long time to be able to remove the pencil. I wonder how costly a procedure it was....if it were me, I know that it would take me a while to save up the money for whatever insurance wouldn't pay for something like that. And if I had no insurance....that would be a much more complex thing.
Joely-
Thank you for the compliment on the butterfly. It is a windchime that I repainted & then did a lot of work on the photo...I really like it, too. I am not good enough with photo software to totally smear the line where the string is on the chime...but I still like my avatar so much & wouldn't change it if I could.
I like when somebody appreciates my weirdness, Damozel. I also like your name.
I'd not seen #4 before although it's not unlike the fears about the statues on a beach near here attracting rescue attempts.
It's great to discover another 2nd Lifer...I will check out the Ambrosia Club. Right now my avatar is hanging out in a gorgeous meditation garden, just chillin to some sweet music. Happy TT!
I am happy to find a Second Lifer, too. I don't come across that many people that mention it in their blogs...though I know that there are some people that do. I like all
kinds of music.
Cool stuff--thank you!
And thanks for visiting too. :)

Great TT -- #1 made me furious!
