Thursday Thirteen....Edition 10

Thirteen Blogs with Thrift/Crafting...something I am obsessively into lately. :-)

1. My House is Cuter Than Yours...one of my favorite blogs lately. I absolutely love the Creature from the Black Lagoon Christmas Tree . I amused a costumer at my work with tales of the astro olive tree...no doubt they thought I was really weird. I read through this entire blog from start to finish at one sitting when I first encountered it. I am fascinated by the many thrift store finds, pretty posed photos, vintage recipe re-creations and projects galore. Yes, blogging what you had for dinner can be interesting. :-)

2.
Super Crafty is a Live Journal...and yes, there is a book of the same name by the same people. This website tells about a lot of crafting events.

3. Girl on the Rocks...knitting,spinning,crafting. Click on the ball of yarn on the start page to get to her blog. I wish that I could spin....someday, when I have the time. Interesting...canning Kumquat Marmalade.

4. Make It....stories & tips about how to turn your crafts into a business. As I have mentioned before, I have plans to sell some of my photography as postcards.

5. Thrifty Goodness...I am envious of some of the kitchen thrift finds. Another blog worth digging around in the archives.

6. Three Pink Trees...a handmade crafts blog. Made a cute gingerbread house....I am not anticipating mine looking anything close to cute...more like wobbly-but you never know. :-)

7. Craftzine.com

8. Cut and Paste...crafts, thrift shop finds, cooking, vintage. Not much going on here right now but I am enjoying the archives.

9. Craftapalooza

10. One Hour Craft.
-How to Make Your Own Loofah
-Tips on Thrift Shopping

11. She has the Logic of a Puggle...knits, quilts and is supermom. What is a puggle???

12. Apron Thrift Girl...leads a very crafty life (and does some beautiful needlework).
-The Salvage Studio...neat

13. Area Thrifty One: Unique Fabric Objects.
-Uses re-purposed, thrifted and new materials
-Makes a lot of purses & bags

5. Laughing Muse
6. Kathryn
7. Tanya...Can you guess where she is going for vacation?

Some good links on your list. I am not as crafty as some of you bloggers... but that doesn't mean it isn't interesting. Your link from #1 sounds really interesting too. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for sharing and happy TT!

Well, these are good to know. It's amazing to me how big the crafting community is on the net.

I'm not very crafty, but I love looking at what other people can do. Thanks for the great links to explore.

I love looking at sites people recommend! I'll be back :-)

Here's a good one for finding new and/or interesting things: www.agirlmustshop.com

Ooh! What a treasure trove!! Must come back later and explore more!!

My aunt - she of the neon sign - is a thrifter of amazing skill. I tend not to be a thrift-store / crafts type person, because when it comes to manual creativity I'm...indifferently talented, is a good way to put it. Ask me to write or organize something, though, and I am so there :D

Thank you for visiting Rashenbo. I am going to come back again & try to figure out which of the people are real on your Thursday 13. :-)

Happy TT. My TT is posted too.
I really loved your list - very interesting... wish I had the time to explore some of those but I've got enough TT's on my plate for the day.
My daughter (age 13) made me a Gingerbread house for me at school. You can see it here:

Wow. You are seriously plugged in and I'm jealous! I need something to get me working on the scrapbooks again.

I see you have a Spreadshirt logo -- do you use them? I'd like to talk about them if you are.

Happy TT!

Kathryn-
I hope that you had fun. I don't think that I am capable of staying up 29 hours anymore.

Once-in-a-while, when I am not feeling good, I will get about 15 hours of sleep over the course of 5 days. That feels awful.

I hope that you wake up well rested.

I enjoyed visiting your 13.

I'm definitely not crafty, but I am thrifty! I'm going to check out some of those links right now.

How many lights do you have on your tree?

Just three strands. Two white and one colored. I took the pic with my camera phone and it came out a little blurry which makes it look like more.

Tanya-
Thank you for visiting & enjoy. :-)

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

Chrissie-
I am coming to look at your daughters gingerbread house. I hope that you get to look at a lot of Thirteens....and look at the blogs I listed some other time (when I do this type of Thirteen people usually take their time exploring). :-)

Susan-
I belong to SpreadShirt's affiliate program & my husband may use them as a backup if his current t-shirt printer become unavailable.

I first heard about SpreadShirt through the blog of illustrator Mike Lemos...plan to add a link to some of his t-shirts at some point (this may drive traffic away from any affiliate earnings that I might get but I like his work).

The blog of Mike Lemos:
http://mlemos.blogspot.com/

I like his work & he seems really friendly. I am sure you could e-mail him & he would be able to tell you what he thinks.

I think that their prices are reasonable...particularly if you do not have a local printer that suits your needs. I find their delivery charges VERY reasonable.

I wish I were crafty! I'd love to learn to do some of the creative hobbies. About your question on my TT, I'm thinking of a Disney Princess theme for a small family and close friends party. Very small. I don't want to overwhelm her! She loves the princesses...has a poster on her wall she stares and giggles at!

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

Phoenix-
I am not sure if they will be what you are looking for...but there should be something that gets your attention among them.

I am into the extreme penny-pinching type of thrift too....not just hunting out thrift shop finds. I know a lot of people get mad that I have more money than them when we make the same amount or I make less....and I just think this is stupid....I don't waste my money & I try to use my resources well. The most flagrant examples of this are the many alchoholics that I know or know of....not that they would ever admit that they are alcoholics...but they do get awfully mad when they see that I am enjoying myself doing things that they ASSUME cost a lot of money. The alcholic-antagonism-toward-my-lifestyle -thing has been a pattern that I have seen repeated many times & is something that I find extremely aggravating.

The only thing that I am bad about as far as thriftiness is concerned is that I currently have no savings. I don't think that this will bite me unless I have an extreme emergency...but I had better start doing the savings thing.

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

P.S. to Phoenix-
I am talking about people who party every night & then get mad at others who have what they consider more than they do. I am not talking about addicts but people who choose this lifestyle (while they may be addicts at the same time).

Resenting thrift is a weird thing.

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

Chrissie-
Yes...it does look like more lights. :-)

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

You can be crafty Cheryl....all it takes is a little bit at a time. There are a lot of traditional crafts or modernized versions of them that I can't do. I am slowly learning to do what works for me & learn what I can when I can. Of course, you will still hear me complaining about not having enough time despite the philosophy that I have adopted. :-)

Your daughter's pary sounds fun. They should all have crowns.

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

In response to my own last comment...maybe a year old is a little to young for a crown. :-)

Debby said...

Great idea for a list! I'll have to check those out. I love crafty stuff! Happy Thursday (late!) and thanks for visiting!

THE BLUEST BUTTERFLY said...

Happy Late Thursday to you too, Deb. Have fun with the links. :-)
